Health sector: Be Ready and proactive in response to treating Covid-19 patients

– In response to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic and in order to reduce the pressure of the central health sector, the provincial health sector has fully prepared and been proactive in treating Covid-19 patients with mild and moderate severity at the grassroots level medical centers contributing to improving the grassroots medical capacity in the fight against epidemic.

According to the report of the Provincial Department of Health, as of 3 p.m. on May 18, 2021, the whole province has recorded 21 cases of Covid-19 in 2021, of which, 18 cases have been announced by the Ministry of Health, 3 new cases in Huu lung district have been by Provincial General Hospital waiting for the Ministry of Health’s announcement. In the whole province, 9/21 patients were transferred to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases No. 2, Dong Anh, Hanoi for monitoring and treatment. Currently, 12 patients are being treated and monitored at Huu Lung District Healthcare Center.

Patients with Covid-19 are carefully observed in order to have immediate treatment for complications.

After more than one week of treatment (the first patient was treated at the Center on May 8, 2021), all patients have shown to have stable conditions and no abnormal developments. The Center also regularly connects and consults remotely via the TeleHealth system (TeleHealth Project) with leading experts of Ministry of Health to be able to promptly handle developments of the case and ensure that the patients’ health conditions do not get worse. In addition, medical staff always strictly comply with epidemic prevention regulations in the Covid-19 patient treatment area and regularly visit and encourage patients have confidence in the treatment.

Not only is Huu Lung District Healthcare Center ready to treat Covid-19 patients, but the health sector has also directed and requested the Provincial General Hospital and district healthcare centers to well implement the motto “4 actions in one location” and be ready to participate in the treatment. Doctor Tran Mau Viet, Deputy Director of the Provincial General Hospital said “Currently, the hospital is performing medical isolation for 38 F1 cases related to Covid-19 cases in the province and outbreaks throughout the country. When treating Covid-19 patients, F1 cases being isolated at the facility will be transferred to Lang Son Traditional Medicine Hospital (located in Hoang Dong commune, Lang Son city) for further follow-up treatment. The entire isolation area of ​​the hospital will carry out the treatment for Covid-19 patients with the participation of more than 20 staff and doctors”.

In fact, at present, the provincial general hospital and district health centers have enough capacity to participate in the treatment of mild and moderate Covid-19 cases. Mr. Nguyen The Toan, Director of the Department of Health said, “Through the review, it is reported that the district healthcare centers, and the provincial general hospital have prepared nearly 300 beds for Covid-19 patients; mobilized hundreds of doctors and nurses to treat Covid-19 patients”.

In addition, the medical units taking parting in treating Covid-19 patients have fully prepared medical facilities and equipment to serve the treatment; coordinate with functional forces to establish concentrated medical isolation areas for F1 cases at a separate facility to ensure the highest safety at the treatment facility. In case many cases are identified in the area, the Department of Health is planned to establish a field hospital at the location of the former General Hospital (located in Lang Son city) to carry out treatment.

With the careful and active preparation of the health sector, it is believed that the treatment for Covid-19 patients will be carried out effectively and safely contributing to improving the capacity of the grassroots health system and reducing the workload on central medical hospitals.
