Continuing to strengthen measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic

– That is the direction of Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control at the 3-level online meeting on strengthening measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in the province this morning (January 6).

Attending the meeting at the provincial point were Mrs. Doan Thi Hau, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee; Mr.Nong Luong Chan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and members of the Provincial Steering Committee.

According to the report of the Department of Health, from November 1, 2021 to January 5, 2022, the whole province recorded 2,183 cases of F0. In particular, from January 1 to 5, 2022, 456 new cases were recorded, an average of 91 cases/day, of whom there are 55 recovered cases/day. Currently, the province has 816 cases of F0 being treated in ten districts and the city, of whom 95.7% are mild and asymptomatic, 3.6% are moderate and 0.6% are severe. The mortality rate accounts for 0.34% (the national average rate of 1.8%).

Vaccination against COVID-19 in the area has been implemented quickly, promptly, safely and effectively with the percentage of people aged 18 and over who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine reaching 97.97%; the rate of people over 65 years old who have received two doses of vaccine, making up for 94.17%.

At the meeting, delegates at the points focused on clarifying difficulties, limitations, causes and proposing solutions to effectively control the epidemic in the new normal state such as continuing to strengthen further propaganda to raise the people’s awareness and responsibilities in epidemic prevention and control; closely manage and monitor F1 cases under quarantine at home, cases returning from epidemic areas and control long-distance drivers; promulgate documents directing the organization of epidemic prevention and control activities on the occasion of the Lunar New Year; medical waste treatment, environmental sanitation in quarantine areas, checkpoints and so on.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed that Lang Son is controlling the COVID-19 epidemic well in the area with the number of F0 cases ranked 52^nd out of 63 cities and provinces, the mortality rate is low, most of F0 have mild symptoms or no symptoms.

Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control delivered a concluding speech.

He suggested that in the upcoming time, members of the Provincial Steering Committee, departments, agencies and the steering committees of districts and the city should continue to strengthen measures to prevent and control the epidemic, well control the epidemic, especially during the Lunar New Year and Xu Lang Spring Festival. In which, the Department of Health needs to actively prepare medical equipment and supplies for the COVID-19 prevention and control; develop a plan to treat F0 at home, guide to self-test quickly at home, provide quick test, ensuring quality and so on.

He requested that the Steering Committees of districts and the city should apply appropriate and timely epidemic prevention and control measures; review and finalize support regimes and policies for subjects affected by the epidemic before January 15, 2022; well prepare conditions for home quarantine of F1 towards treatment of F0 at home; review the payment of regimes and policies to forces participating in the epidemic prevention and control; continue to promote the role of community COVID teams; strengthen propaganda to improve the rate of vaccine coverage; develop plans to celebrate Tet in concentrated quarantine areas; continue to strengthen propaganda and raise awareness of cadres, party members and the people. At the same time, it is required to promote production and business development, fulfill socio-economic development targets, well organize activities to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet while effectively controlling the epidemic.
