Promoting the connection of consuming black jelly products

– On September 25, the People’s Committee of Lang Son province held an online conference to promote the connection of consuming black jelly products in Lang Son province in 2021. Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee chaired the conference.

Attending the conference at different sites were the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Economic and Trade Economic Counselor (Chinese Embassy in Vietnam); leaders of Guangxi Department of Commerce (China); representatives of some Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises.

Black jelly tree, is an indigenous tree that has been grown for a long time in Lang Son province. It is concentrated in the districts of Trang Dinh, Binh Gia, and Van Lang. At the end of 2020, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the Director General of the General Department of Customs of China signed a Protocol on plant quarantine requirements for black jelly exported from Vietnam to China. Since then, the value of black jelly is improved when officially exported to the Chinese market.

Up to now, the area for growing black jelly in the province has been expanded to 3,000 hectares, up 37% compared to 2020, the output reaches 16,000 tons. Black jelly has been granted the certificate of collective trademark by the National Office of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology as “Trang Dinh Black Jelly”; the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development granted the certificate for new plant variety protection to black jelly of Trang Dinh district; 121 black jelly growing areas are provided planting area codes with an area of ​​about 600 ha; 4 black jelly packing facilities are evaluated and approved by the General Department of Customs of China and provided with the issuance of packing codes; the total quantity of raw black jelly products exported to major markets such as China, Taiwan, and Thailand accounts for about 70% of the province’s total output….

In addition to the achieved results, the development of black jelly in the province also faces some difficulties such as the promotion and advertisement of products has not been widely available, therefore, it has not attracted many businesses interested in investment; there is no production facility of seeding black jelly variety; the harvesting and preservation are still manual…

At the conference, the delegates focused on discussing contents related to production, processing and consumption of black jelly products in the past time. At the same time, they made recommendations to remove difficulties and obstacles in the production and consumption of black jelly products in the near future.

Concluding the conference, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province highly appreciated the ideas exchanged and discussed at the conference, thereby, he suggested many orientations, guidelines and policies for the province to develop black jelly products in the near future.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expressed his thanks to the ministries and central agencies for their support for the province during the past time. At the same time, he thankedo the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and the Guangxi Department of Commerce for their close, intimate and friendly cooperation with Lang Son province in the development process; domestic and foreign enterprises have chosen the province to carry out production, processing and export and import activities…

He expected that after this conference, the contents exchanged and agreed between the agencies and authorities of Lang Son, Guangxi (China) and the ministries, branches and central government of Vietnam will be realized with specific programs and action plans for effective implementation. At the same time, he hoped to meet and cooperate with Vietnamese and Chinese businesses to study, survey, invest in developing production and processing black jelly products in Lang Son province.
