Promoting the role of creditable people in the prevention and control of Covid-19

– With their responsibility and prestige, creditable people in the community in the province have been actively participating with the government to organize propaganda for the people to raise their awareness of preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandamic, especially in the context of the disease’s re-outbreak and its complicated developments currently.

Mr. Lam Van Mau, a creditable person in Cooc Mo village, Minh Son commune, Huu Lung district is 83 years old this year but he still volunteered to join the village community Covid-19 team to propagate to people to understand the measures to prevent and control pandamic during its local outbreak Instead of propagating through social networks like young members, Mr. Mau often holds in his hand a stack of papers with content such as What is 5K? Why should people wear a mask… He went to every house, knocked every door, then gave each family a sheet of paper as above and did not forget to ask about each person’s health. Thanks to that, although Coc Mo village is adjacent to the pandamic villages, since the beginning of May 2021, the village has not recorded any cases of infection.

Mr. Pham Ba Thang, a creditable person in block 8, Tam Thanh ward, Lang Son city (far right) came to people’s houses to propagate measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandamic.

Mr. Mau said: “My village has 214 households with 920 people. Since 2011, I have been trusted and elected by the people as a creditable person, so I understand that I need to be responsible for the government and the people. When the pandamic broke out in the locality, I integrated propaganda on Covid-19 prevention and control in village meetings, reminding people to do the right 5K measures. Every day, I and the members of the village community Covid-19 team review cases returning from pandamic areas and closely monitor quarantined cases, advising people to go out only when necessary…”

Like Mr. Mau, Ms. Pham Thi Tram, a creditable person in block 9, Vinh Trai ward, Lang Son city, goes around her block every day to remind people to wear masks and avoid gatherings. In particular, for local people who run businesses, Ms. Tram gently reminds restaurant owners to allow take-away only to avoid spreading the risk of disease.

Those are just two of the creditable people in the villages and hamlets in the province who have played a proactive role in reviewing, propagating and raising people’s awareness about the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandamic. According to Decision No. 566/QD-UBND, dated March 3, 2021 and Notice No. 166/TB-UBND dated March 31, 2021 of the Provincial People’s Committee, currently, the total number of creditable people among ethnic minorities number in Lang Son province is 1,696 people. Although there is no exact data, but according to information provided by the Provincial Commission for Ethnic Minority Affairs, over the past month, many creditable people in the province have enthusiastically participated in community Covid-19 teams, monitored quarantine cases at home, paid attention to, reminded those returning from pandamic areas or having contact with F1, F2 to make medical declarations… For example, in Huu Lung district, there are currently 173 creditable people and all of them participate in propaganda and pandamic prevention and control in villages and residential groups, and there are 35 creditable people who volunteer to join the community Covid-19 team.

Mr. Lam Van Vien, Deputy Head of the Provincial Commission for Ethnic Minority Affairs sai: “The team of creditable people has performed well in various fields of life. Recently, in the prevention and control of Covid-19, creditable people have continued to promote their role, pioneering and exemplifying, making many important contributions in propagating and mobilizing people to implement preventive measures. Creditable people have contributed to the people’s absolute confidence in the disease prevention and control of the authorities, avoiding the worry and subjective status during the pandamic.”

Ms. Trieu Thuy Duong, Dong Heo village, Dong Tan commune, Huu Lung district said: “Thanks to the reminding and propaganda of creditable people, my family and I were aware of the danger of the pandamic, from which we act and follow the instructions on pandamic prevention and coordinate with functional agencies to effectively prevent and control the pandamic.

Through creditable people, the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandamic of each commune, ward and town in the province has been carried out more effectively. Thereby, it contributes to the fight against the pandamic.
